Ibrahimović arrived in style at the Friends Are- sorry, Zlatan Arena - on Wednesday night

Zlatan Ibrahimović may not have been able to take to the pitch for Wednesday night's Europa League final, but he certainly ensured his presence was felt in Stockholm.

The injured Manchester United striker, who may be destined to leave the club this summer as he continues rehabilitation for a cruciate ligament injury, arrived at the Friends Arena amid much fanfare before the game.

And once inside, Zlatan was straight down to business – renaming the stadium, no less, in his own honour.

Should we ever have expected anything less from the Sweden international, in what could be his last 'appearance' as a Man Utd player?

Ibrahimović had previously indicated he would like to stay for another season at Old Trafford, despite the team's dim performance in the Premier League in 2016-17.

Those plans were disrupted after the Swede, 35, injured his knee in the Europa League quarter-final against Anderlecht.

But Zlatan's fans both in Manchester and across the world would do well not to write him off too soon. As he recently said himself: "I feel like Benjamin Button - I was born old but I will die young."
