The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has condemned the terrorist attack on London.
Professor Osinbajo, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande, described the attack as a sickening atrocity perpetrated by a misguided and cowardly group.
Seven people were killed at London Bridge in the first of what is believed to be multiple terrorist attacks in central London late on Saturday.
Also, over 40 persons were injured when a van rammed into pedestrians before three men got out and stabbed people in nearby Borough Market.
Apart from condemning the attack, Professor Osinbajo said, “Nigeria stands with the government and people of the United Kingdom and extends our condolences to the families of the victims.”
According to the Acting President, the latest attack in the United Kingdom reinforces the need for the global community to act with greater vigour to overcome the extremist ideologies which underpin terrorism.
Saturday’s attack comes two weeks after a suicide bomb attack on the Manchester Arena, during an Ariana Grande concert, killed 22 and left 59 injured.
