Ikpoba-Okha LG Chairman Eric Osayande Presents N3.554billion Budget

The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman Dr. Eric Osayande has presented a budget estimate of N3.554b for the 2019 fiscal year to the Legislative Arm of the Local Government Tuesday 7th May, 2019

The estimate has a capital expenditure of N699,803,000.00 and recurrent expenditure of N2,854,974,669.00; the 2019 budget estimate represents an upward review of 2018 budget estimate which was N3.220b 

Osayande said this year's estimate has a marginal percentage increase due to approved N30,000 minimum wage for workers across the Country; he reinstated that the policy thrust of his administration is to serve the people 

Christened 'Budget of Consolidation', Osayande said "it is the desire of this administration to complete ongoing projects and embark on  the construction of new ones"; the Local Government boss however drew the attention of the Speaker, Hon. Kingsley Balogban to the reduced revenue receipt from the federation account which of course has led the Council to embark on vigorous internally generated revenue drive to improve the LGA's financial resources 

He added that the projects executed under the 2018 budget estimate were: renovation of a block of classrooms at Army Day Primary School in Ward 1, renovation of open market stalls at Oregbeni market in Ward 2, construction of 2 units of 24 open market stalls, including toilet facility and water borehole at Ohovbe market in Ward 3, construction of 2 units of 24 open market stalls, including toilet facility and water borehole at Urora market in Ward 4, construction of a block of primary school at Avbiama in Ward 5, construction of Dumez road market in Ward 6

Dr. Eric Osayande further stated that the 2018 budget estimate addressed renovation of Ugbekun market including water borehole and toilet facility, reconstruction of primary school classroom block at Obazagbon in Ward 8, construction of a block of classroom at Ogbekpen in Ward 9 and renovation of Ologbo market, including water borehole and toilet facility 

"Mr. Leader, Honourable Councillors, there are several other capital projects executed by this administration under the 2018 budget estimate, some of the projects have been completed, while others are ongoing" Osayande said 

Party leaders, traditional rulers, women, youths, party faithfuls, staff of the Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics Department, Ikpoba-Okha LG and others were amongst those present at the event
