PDP Convention: Makarfi Extends Olive Branch To Sheriff

Barely 24 hours to the non-elective convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed is extending the olive branch to its ousted national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mr Dayo Adeyeye, described Saturday’s Convention as a Unity Convention to form a common front against the Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.

Adeyeye said, “The policy of no victor, no vanquished has been implemented by the National Caretaker Committee. So we are going to have a unity convention tomorrow; everybody has been brought together, they have integrated. This is a unity convention.
“I want to assure you that those who were on the other side while we had a protracted court, virtually of them have been included to serve in this convention – go and check the list. There is no legal issue at all regarding this convention.”

The PDP lost the opportunity to elect its principal officers during its controversial Port Harcourt Convention on August 16, 2016.

The aftermath of that convention plunged the party into a protracted legal battle that lasted for 14 months, between Makarfi and Sheriff.
